The St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) and the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps successfully completed their first joint exercise earlier this month, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and skill-building. The inaugural training, named Exercise Liamigua, took place from Tuesday, November 05th to Friday, November 08th, 2024.
The exercise was the result of a partnership between the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Ministry of National Security, aimed at fostering regular joint training initiatives. The goal was to leverage each country’s training facilities and share valuable operational practices and experiences.
More than 40 personnel from the SKNDF, alongside a contingent from the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps from Sint Maarten, and 15 supporting staff, participated in a diverse range of activities. These included search and rescue operations, medical evacuations, jungle survival techniques, land navigation, shelter construction, and hiking, all designed to improve tactical and operational proficiency in varied environments.
The exercise concluded with a plaque exchange and social held on Thursday, November 7th, 2024, where both sides expressed mutual appreciation for their cooperation.
