REGIONAL SECURITY SYSTEM SECURITY CHIEFS MEETING.

The recent Regional Security System (RSS) Security Chiefs Meeting, held on April 2-3, 2025, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, provided a significant platform for high-level discussions on regional security challenges. The meeting, chaired by Major Kayode Sutton, Acting Commander of the St Kitts Nevis Defence Force, brought together leaders of law enforcement agencies and military leaders of RSS Member States

Key topics included addressing multifaceted security threats and challenges, environmental challenges, and growing challenges posed by natural disasters that have significantly increased concern for the Caribbean region.

The discussions also covered ongoing and upcoming security collaborations, projects , training and professional developments, exercises, and exchanges. The RSS administrative staff officials presented important updates to the Defence Chiefs and Commissioners on ongoing projects. The RSS, with a fundamental mandate to tackle regional security issues collectively, aims to enhance the safety and stability of its member states through strong cooperation and shared experiences and best practices.

Following the Security Chiefs Meeting, the Regional Security System Council of Ministers Meeting took place on April 4, 2025, chaired by Dr. Terrance Drew, the Honourable Prime Minister of St Kitts Nevis.

The Council of Ministers was appraised of developments in the security framework of the region while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and proactive and innovative strategies to safeguard the region’s future.
