St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Celebrates Christmas with Festive Lunch

Basseterre, St Kitts, December 20, 2024 (SKNDF): The St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) celebrated the holiday season with its annual Christmas lunch on Friday, December 20, 2024. The festive occasion brought together officers and ranks of the SKNDF, along with distinguished guests including the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Terrence Drew, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security Mr. Blanchett, and National Security Advisor Mr. Lionel Rawlins.

Acting Force Commander Major Kayode Sutton expressed his sincere gratitude to the entire force for their unwavering dedication and hard work throughout the year. He recognized the invaluable contributions of each member, emphasizing the importance of their service to the nation.

Major Sutton also announced well-deserved incentives for soldiers who demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication during 2024. To further acknowledge outstanding service, the “Soldier of the Year” award was presented to Pte. Gumbs J, and the “Sailor of the Year” award was bestowed upon Lance Corporal Stanley R.

The ceremony also witnessed the commissioning of five new officers: 2Lt. Lakeem Crosse, 2Lt. Mario O’Flerharty, 2Lt. Jelani Griffin, and 2Lt. Jon-Lewin Watson received their commissions, while 2Lt. Percival Thomas was elevated to the rank of First Lieutenant. This significant milestone marks a testament to their commitment to excellence and dedicated service to the SKNDF.

In keeping with tradition, the Force Orderly Sergeant of the day initiated the Christmas lunch by drinking a special toast. To further demonstrate their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the ranks, the Hon. Prime Minister, senior officers, and junior officers personally served the Christmas lunch to all members of the force.

The Christmas lunch served as a valuable opportunity to foster camaraderie and recognize the invaluable contributions of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force to the nation’s security and well-being.
