The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis saw the passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto on Tuesday 13 August and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) activated the National Emergency Operating Centre (NEOC) to safety guide the Federation through the storm.
In accordance to the mission of the SKNDF, to assist NEMA in National Disasters, the SKNDF mobilized into there teams.
Pre Strike damage assessment was done before the impact of the storm. Thereafter further damage assessment and route clearance teams assessed and cleared blocked roadways for emergency vehicles to have safe road passage.
As the storm moves further away from the Federation and we move into the night, the St Kitts Nevis Defence urges everyone to exercise extreme caution. Be vigilant for any changes in road conditions, and adhere to all traffic regulations to avoid accidents. Drive at reduced speeds and be prepared for potential hazards.
